Data is an E&P company's lifeblood, particularly in the sub-salt and pre-salt basins that are Cobalt's strategic areas of focus for exploration and development.

We have invested more than $200 million in seismic and technical data for West Africa and the Gulf of Mexico. Our data bank includes approximately 225,000 kilometers of seismic data in West Africa and 75,000 kilometers of 2D pre-stack depth migration.

We have also acquired licenses in the Gulf of Mexico to more than 200,000 kilometers of 2D seismic data and 65,000 square kilometers of 3D seismic coverage over 2800 blocks.

Cobalt has invested in the most up-to-date seismic data shot with the latest technology and the most sophisticated analytical tools on the market. Still, sub-salt seismic interpretation is a demanding task even with modern depth-migrated data due to distortions caused by dipping noise and poorly illuminated areas.

We have done extensive pre-work reprocessing the data to our algorithms and using our data and analytical tools as enablers to interpret and understand pre-salt and sub-salt deepwater basins in our focus areas. As much of an art as a technical capability, this hands-on interpretation by some of the most talented geoscientists in the business is Cobalt's proprietary advantage.
